Canary started in a spreadsheet. I spent six years at Goldman Sachs in the Real Estate Financing Group structuring $20B of bridge, agency, and CMBS loans across every asset class. Every deal needed the same handful of numbers — DSCR, debt yield, LTV, covenant cushion — and every deal had a different tool, a different spreadsheet, a different version of truth.

Operators have it worse. Family offices and SMB owners run debt portfolios in Excel. Mid-market REITs pay $50K+/year for tools that still need a banker to interpret. The tooling gap between top-quartile institutions and everyone else is the largest unaddressed friction in commercial real estate.

I left Goldman in May 2026 to fix that. Canary is the operating system I wished I'd had on both sides of the deal — covenants always tested, valuations always current, refi math always doable, and operating data always feeding the debt story. One platform, three products, shared data.
